Intentness

Also called Persistence, Tenacity, Being Deliberate

Hard work and enthusiasm don’t serve much purpose if done only sparingly or for a short period of time. There has to be a determination to push through and stay the course no matter how difficult the course becomes. It is easy to quit, to turn back or to give in. Don’t ever quit, continue trying. Try harder, smarter, but try again.

This personal characteristic is as important as any. There are plenty of times in everyones career and life where they struggle. Ex. Michael Jordan was cut from his High School basketball team. It is okay to get discouraged, but keep pushing: keep moving forward.

In baseball, it is important practice with intent, with a purpose.  You are always trying to achieve something, some result, some improvement.  We are not just practicing to go through the motions.  We are practicing for a purpose, to get better, to improve — with intent.
Please watch the educational video on what happens in your body when you perform “deliberate” practice.
